A new wide open door

Here we find ourselves once again. After a rush and flurry of the holidays, bustling to and fro, we all come to a stop at the front door of a new year. We look into the future with no clue what to expect. Our only intuition is the memories from our past. We know what to basically expect as far as seasons, the ebb and flow of nature, and dawn and sunset are expected. Everything else is up for finding out. After this year most everyone I know is glad this year is behind them and I can definitely understand and sympathize. But we all know we have no idea what to expect. Nothing but a big question mark looking ahead. So we stand here together and take a long, slow, deep breath with an understanding that, ready or not, this year is going to happen. Nothing can stop its impact on us. Good or bad we are held prisoner to its effect on us and time will march on. The only real thing within our power is our approach.
My approach is going to be different than of late. The effects of last year still hang off me and will be with me for some time but I still can give a last word. I choose to walk through this next year’s open door with boldness. Courage will be my shoes, and they will be laced up tight with Faith. Greater is He that is in me than he who is in the world. I encourage you to do the same. We are all still here and have a purpose, and the call to live out that purpose is calling loudly from beyond the open door. Let us walk through together with intentional steps of putting our best forward.
