I love learning

I love to exercise my brain. I like History Channel or Nova, not mindless TV shows. Movies have to be well written stories… not just explosions or skin. Music is the same way. No thrashing, just well thought out arrangements and lyrics (a really good guitarist is a plus). Even a conversation with someone needs to have something in it that I can learn if my attention is to be kept.

I just love to learn, to move beyond my current location to higher grounds of knowledge. Must be a whole journey thing, but it seems true. Some say its ambition, and I suppose it is, but it is more that. It’s A-D-V-E-N-T-U-R-E… these new horizons and wonderful revelations that can only come from the desire to learn. Some think it’s arrogance that drives this ambition. However, I believe it takes a heavy amount of humility and courage to move to these fresh fields of new. You don’t know what to expect. Have you thought wrong about something? Or will I have to apologize for misinformation? (Ouch, that one hurt!) And, here’s the hard one, saying what you know to be true even when it’s not popular or well-received by others.

Of course, the way we approach knowledge is vital. Whether you are the receiver of information or the one passing it along, one must measure the intention of sharing knowledge before proceeding. While there is a whole discipline of study dedicated to understanding human motives, we need to start by questioning our own intentions. Apologizing for misunderstandings and a healthy desire to grow is a good place to start.
