What are you responsible for?

This is a question I think would be good for every person to ask themselves from time to time. It’s a powerful thought. Will I overcome the task at hand and take accountability for the outcome? So here is my commitment to myself. I’m responsible for the culture, direction, and the mission that we believe. Whether it is finding the right people, when and how to invest assets, or replacing outdated systems and personnel that will not perform this is my responsibility. I don’t have a job. Instead I have a duty to our core values. Always looking deeply into our organization as to where our values are not reining and to hold myself accountable to address it with a determined will. Part of my job is to give responsibility to certain individuals who have this same passion and reflects these truths. So I ask you. “What are you responsible for?” What are you pushing against to establish your values, and do they reflect our culture? Are you challenging yourself and others? I constantly ask myself these things. If it fails it is my fault. I’m the liable party. If it succeeds, then our great team gets all the credit. That is what I’m responsible for. I also have to care enough. As a matter of fact I must love the idea enough to do the right things for the sake of the organization.
