Thankfulness

This is the season for people to talk about what they are thankful for. Unquestionably there is much to be thankful for. Had a conversation with some of the guys at work about how this is their favorite holiday. I added that it was mine as well and they followed with the familiar line, “It’s not commercialized like Christmas!” This got me to thinking about the whole Pilgrim experience and the wonderful tradition of Thanksgiving here in America. You know the turkey, the fall colors, Macy’s day parade, football, and the pleasant smells of the season. How could you commercialize thanking God about the blessings that are so obvious? There seems to be an over pouring of blessing on our nation and you can’t deny it. Trying to put a selfish twist on this observance is a hard thing. So here is my thankful list: Family as always, my beautiful wife, Sherril, and our four girls. We are all healthy and we are grateful for that. My granddad passed away this year, though I miss him, I’m grateful for the memories and the times we shared together. I’m thankful for our Nations military men and women. Many of whom will not be with family this year as they serve and fulfill their duty. I’m thankful for our local public servants and the extra hours they tend to put in this time of year. And last but most important I thank God, (Father, Son, and Holy Spirit) for saving me and guiding me all the days of my life. Because of Him my heart is Glad! Have a wonderful Thanksgiving season.
