Genuine loyalty

I have a wonderful team that I get to work with everyday. They are a committed bunch with their own talents and skills. They bring their own experiences and passions with them every task they take on. It’s a great pool of resources for us to tap into for the purpose of performance here at Professio by Matt Henson, Inc. I saw a business owner talking to a group of peers the other day and he said something that struck me as very important to a company’s culture. He runs a data research company and had an argument with his team on how to approach a certain problem. He thought it should be one way and the team thought it should go another. He said, “But, the team is not loyal to me at all. They are loyal to the data.” That got my attention. It is my hope for us here that we not become loyal to an owner, or supervisor, or even (this is the trap most leaders fall into) to a team as a whole. But be committed totally to our craft more than anything else. It’s important we would share in a commitment to our mission for quality not a false loyalty to a person. So let’s give each other permission to challenge ourselves first, your coworkers and your supervisors to a genuine loyalty to something that matters. This makes a great atmosphere for growth, and a healthy respect for each other. Let the challenging problems begin, and may craftsmanship win……..

  1. I like that. Makes me think of healthy church... If our loyalty is to the Father first and foremost, healthy community and loyalty to the Bride should follow.
